Forensics : the anatomy of crime / by Val McDermid

ForensicsAs someone who loves Val McDermid’s Tony Hill thrillers, I was looking forward to reading this and wasn’t disappointed!
Here McDermid researches each of the branches of forensic science – fire scene investigation, entomology, pathology, toxicology, fingerprinting, blood spatter, DNA, anthropology, facial reconstruction, digital forensics, forensic psychology and court room procedures. Throughout she includes true life examples when evidence led to a conviction, and conversations with forensic professionals in the UK and beyond.

This is an easy read in some ways – the author explains theories and practices simply and concisely. I love the randomly placed blowfly pictures scattered throughout the text too!
