A very enjoyable fantasy from this new author. Aimed at teens, the book takes place in a medieval world with a difference: the Queen has drafted a peace treaty with the dragons who live nearby, so that the human and dragon scholars can learn from one another without fear. Sadly, fear and suspicion still dog relationships between the two species, and never more so than when the dragons take human form in order to travel among people.
Our heroine, the Seraphina of the title, has a secret she is trying desperately to keep – not helped by her job as a celebrated court musician.
Will Seraphina keep her secret? Can the peace between the dragons and the people be maintained? And will handsome prince Lucian ever notice her?
