The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald

The great gatsbyTicking another classic off my to-read list! A funny and bleak look at privilege in the 1920s; brilliantly evocative with real power. The characters spring to life fully formed from the page and the descriptions of parties, glamorous dress and the cocktails enjoyed in the book are mouth-watering.
The plot unfurls with a dreadful inevitability. There is never any doubt that this story can end anything but badly.
A great read.
