I think Jo Nesbo just gets better & better. This book is awesome – I couldn’t put it down! Nesbo is the master of suspense, the plot is full of twists and turns, I couldn’t see where it was going next – he really does know how to manipulate his readers’ minds. As ever when I have a Nesbo in my hands, I’m in Harry world. And for all his faults, I love him – what a character.
In this book we have a serial killer who is steadily killing off the police at the site of unresolved crimes – including one character I was devastated about. Oslo needs Harry Hole, but for the first part of the book we have no idea whether he is still alive (OK, the book’s called Harry Hole #10, so there’s a clue). And that’s the thing with Nesbo, the book is full of clues but there is no way to guess what’s coming next. And just as you’ve relaxed at the end of the book, there’s a creepy cliffhanger leaving you waiting with baited breath for Harry Hole #11.
