The winter of the lions by Jan Costin Wagner

9780099546436Unusual and dream-like crime novel from Jan Costin Wagner. The central character is a police detective who is haunted by grief after losing his wife. The fragmented and ethereal writing style seems to reflect the mental state of this detective, to an extent that it can be hard at times to fully understand what is happening in the book.

Events unfold at their own pace and nothing is really resolved. This isn’t a book for people who like everything tied up neatly.
