Flesh Wounds by Christopher Brookmyre

fleshCracking Glaswegian crime thriller from Christopher Brookmyre. The third in a series, we are reunited with private investigator Jasmine Sharp and mysterious hardman Glen Fallon. Things are not going smoothly for Mr Fallon: he’s just been locked up for the murder of one of Glasgow’s most notorious crime bosses.

The book has a high body count but the violence isn’t lingeringly bloody, the characters are well rounded and the portrayals of several strong women are particularly moving.

This is a series you’ll get the most from if you’re able to read them in order, as tantalising glimpses of backstory are handed out throughout the books and each builds on the reveals of the previous story.
