The daylight gate by Jeanette Winterson

Daylight Gate by Jeanette Winterson

A darkly gripping tale of witchcraft and superstition at Pendle Hill, Lancashire in 1612. Two women are awaiting trail as witches. A wealthy widow wants to support their cause and finds herself accused.  Full of the dark fears and prejudices of that time, this novel contains scenes of rape and torture but they ultimately make for a richer, darker story. Recommended.
