The spycatcher by Matthew Dunn

An epic and convincing thriller from this new writer. The writing style is a little unusual, at times it reads more like I imagine a secret service report would read, rather than the style normally used for novels, but I think on the whole this adds to the convincing air of the book. It was only afterwards that I found out that the author is a former member of MI6.

There are all the requirements for a satisfying thriller: a secret service agent with a past, a beautiful woman (also with a past) and a terrifying villain hellbent on atrocity. Add to the mix plenty of weapons and a dedicated team of loyal agents (do you think they’ll all make it through alive?) and we have a winner of a book.
