Salmon Fishing in the Yemen by Paul Torday

salmonReview by the Bookworms Reading Group which meets at Plumstead Road Library

Our thoughts and comments … the book used different voices all the time in the narrative giving different points of view;  we all agreed with the Sheikh that Britain is obsessed with class and that the Government minister seemed particularly inept and the spin doctor reminded us of Alastair Campbell; some, but not all, of the group did not enjoy the use of letters as a means of representing the past and another did not laugh and found no humour at all; the film adaptation was enjoyable but not entirely faithfull to the book.
