Secrets of the henna girl by Sufiya Ahmed

This is a story about a young girl living with her parents in Yorkshire who has just finished her GCSEs and is now being forced to marry her cousin from Pakistan. Family conflict, friendship, and the modern versus tradition. Brilliant book and a must read. Read it four times.

  1. I really appreciated this book too! It’s got a bit of history woven through the book and puts a really contraversial issue – arranged marriage – into a personal and cultural context.
