A brilliant book from the irrepressible Marian Keyes. The cover cries ‘chick-lit’, but this is well worth a read even if that’s a genre you’d normally steer well clear of. Yes, it’s written from the point of women and largely about relationships and yes, it’s very funny in places- but that’s where the comparisons end.
It’s an exceptionally well written & enjoyable book which manages to explore domestic violence, alcoholism, cross-dressing and more whilst remaining a highly engaging page-turner.
All of the characters are believable and well-crafted, the situations they find themselves in are credible & the whole thing written with a light (yet never light-weight) and witty touch.
