The Circle by Sara B Elfgren and Mats Strandberg

At a Swedish high school, a troubled boy is found dead, apparently having committed suicide. But his best friend doesn’t believe it. As the school mourns, and another girl dies, six students find themselves drawn to a fairground during a blood-red moon and discover they are the ‘chosen’ ones, part of an ancient prophecy that surrounds their village. Only  by working together can they all survive.

Wow! This is a brilliant first novel from this Swedish duo. The storyline plays out slowly, and the characters – a mixed bunch of girls who don’t really like each other – are engaging and I can’t wait for the second part of the series, sadly not due for release until next year!
