Dissolution by C J Sansom

I finally got around to reading this much praised and popular series and I wasn’t disappointed.

Henry VIII has ordered the dissolution of the monasteries and England is full of informers. At the monastery of Scarnsea events have spiralled out of control with the murder of Commissioner Robin Singleton. Dr Matthew Shardlake, lawyer and long-time supporter of Reform, has been sent by Cromwell into this atmosphere of treachery and death. But Shardlake’s investigation soon forces him to question everything he hears, and everything that he intrinsically believes . . .

This is Tudors meets Name of the Rose, with suspicious monks at every turn. Enjoy this, and you have the rest of the series to look forward to.
