Another explosively brilliant book from Ben Aaronovitch. The sequel to Rovers of London, this book provides more of the same fast-paced wizardry and imaginative myth-making while developing the central characters.
It manages to combine a cracking police who-dunnit with believable and logical magic- and some really tender moments.
One of the things which stands out most for me about this series is the treatment of a thoroughly modern London, where people of different sexuality and ethnicities live side-by-side in a very matter-of-fact way: it’s really nice to read, when so much popular fiction seems to have an entirely straight white cast.
And best of all, the third book is out later this year- I can’t wait.
