Down Among The Dossers by Robin Page

This book (published in 1971) describes Robin Page’s (of One Man and His Dog fame) experiences as a homeless ‘dosser’ in the late sixties. I was drawn to it as George Orwell’s Down and Out in Paris and London is one of my favourite ever reads.

Page comes to understand the everyday life of the homeless at the time and makes some positive suggestions on how the situation could be improved. Although the book is a little dated, the way the experiences are described makes for a fascinating read.
